Dr. Adam, a native of England, attained her board certification in both equine surgery and internal medicine. Her dual specialties make her an exceptionally well-qualified veterinarian.
After completing her veterinary training at the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London, Dr. Adam came to the U.S. to spend a year as an intern at Colorado State University. She then completed a three year internal medicine residency at Texas A&M, after which she began a three year surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania. After a year as a staff surgeon at Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery in Weatherford, TX, Dr. Adam was recruited for the Ruffian Equine Medical Center in Elmont, NY. She joined Rhinebeck Equine in 2009. Dr. Adam grew up on a Thoroughbred breeding farm in Newmarket, and has been immersed in the horse industry throughout her life. She has a special interest in arthroscopy, upper airway surgery, sports medicine, and the musculoskeletal evaluation of young stock.
A true animal lover, Dr. Adam has two devoted dogs named Ethel and Roo, and owns a handsome palomino QH gelding named Joe who is a talented jumper and the love of her life.
We are sad to announce that Dr. Emma Adam will be returning to Europe in April 2010 due to family obligations. She will be working as a surgeon for Clinique Veterinaire de la Cote Fleurie in Deaville, Normandy, France, in the heart of horse country. Dr. Adam, a native of England, is an exceptionally well-qualified veterinarian, and in the short time that she has been with us in Rhinebeck, she has gained quite a following. We wish her all the best.
