At Rhinebeck Equine, equine gastroscopy allows our veterinarians to directly visualize the esophagus, stomach, and the first portion of the small intestine using a long, flexible camera (endoscope).
Gastroscopy is the most accurate way to see what is truly happening inside your horse’s stomach, and it is the gold standard for diagnosing gastric ulcers and other upper gastrointestinal problems.
Rather than guessing based on behavior or response to medication, we can confirm whether ulcers are present, determine their location and severity, and look for other issues such as inflammation, feed impaction, or abnormal tissue.
This level of detail helps us create a targeted, effective treatment and management plan tailored specifically to your horse.
