Kate Loonie, DVM

Intern Veterinarian

Dr. Kate Loonie grew up in North Attleboro, MA. She received a bachelor's degree in Pre-Veterinary Sciences from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While working toward her undergraduate degree, she spent many hours with beef cattle and livestock herds, which sparked her interest in large animal herd management and veterinary medicine. Although she had never ridden before, Dr. Looine joined the UMass IHSA Equestrian Team to compete in the Walk/Trot division. During the COVID shutdown, she took part in an informal riding boot camp for several months, gaining valuable horse experience. Dr. Loonie then attended veterinary school at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where she developed a strong interest in Large Animal Internal Medicine and Emergency and Critical Care. Outside of veterinary work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hiking in the warmer months and skiing in the winter. Dr. Loonie also enjoys practicing photography and has a particular interest in capturing portraits of people and their pets.
