Dr. Erin Scannell grew up in New Jersey and knew that she wanted to work with animals from a very young age. She earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Cornell University 2021, and spent one year completing a dairy farm operations internship at the Cornell ruminant center.  She then went on to receive her veterinary degree from University College Dublin in Ireland, where she developed a passion for equine medicine.

Dr. Scannell enjoys all aspects of equine practice, with particular interests in ambulatory general practice and emergency medicine. She is excited to expand her knowledge across the many facets of equine medicine during her internship and is especially looking forward to gaining hands-on experience managing emergencies both in the field and in the hospital. Outside of work, Dr. Scannell enjoys reading, baking, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her rabbit, Finn, who has happily made the move to Rhinebeck with her.
